Comparing Songs About War from the Soundtrack "Body of War"

On the soundtrack for the movie BODY OF WAR, there are thirty songs that have to do with war and our troops. The messages in most of these songs are similar but they are delivered in different ways.

In the song “No More” by Eddie Vedder, he presents his song in a more folk music style; just him and his guitar. His lyrics are pretty mild too. He sings about a veteran who has returned from war and is telling everybody, “No more war!”

Another song on the soundtrack is “B.Y.O.B” by System of a Down. This song is a heavy metal, explicit tune taking shots at the government. They ask, “Why don’t presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?”

Although both songs have a similar message, they are presented in two very different ways. “No More” is more effective because it has a peaceful message and is still respectful to the troops while “B.Y.O.B.” seems to be mocking them for following the government.

Music

I just put up some songs about the Vietnam War. They are all great songs and all deserve to be listened to. There are nine songs up so far and I'm tying to get the player bigger but can't figure it out. The song "8th of November" starts out with a veteran telling a story about a battle in Vietnam. This story, plus the song "Big and Rich" plays after are very powerful. Give it a chance!
